Dramatic Question: What if True Love is giving someone permission to drive you crazy?
Premise: The search for happiness is the chief source of unhappiness
Story Message: You can't control love - only mitigate the disaster
Love can never be conquered by Science. It may have a chemical manifestation, which we can tinker with, but we can never control. It is born from the irrational and utterly self-serving desire to procreate, which means needing another person in ways that are unpredictable and unfathomable. It is a vortex, a tornado, that will always find a way.
In order for Love to work, it must remain a mystery. It's like a joke that - if you have to explain - it can never be funny.
We need love in order to function. It will turn our lives upside down. That is its purpose. Removing the chaos will not result in a better version. There are no shortcuts. Searching for happiness will lead to unhappiness. But it could just as easily lead to the love of your life. That doesn't mean you'll be happy ever after. Quite the contrary - love is giving someone permission to drive you crazy.
At the end of the day, you can't control love. All you can do is mitigate the disaster it creates.
