Self-Help for those who really need it...
"Advice so bad - it's actually good for you!"
EverNow began in the SEAM LABS as an off-shoot of the EverLife project. We thought it would be amusing to provide "pre-lifers" with psychiatric assistance to help them make the most of their first life... in order to get more from their second. The origin of the name comes from the EverLife motto: "Prepare for Forever - Now!"
It was only intended as a ruse. We thought we'd create one or two short episodes. However, we got seriously carried away. Part of the reason was that the self-help industry provides so much inspiration. There is a lot of half-baked rubbish out there - masquerading as wisdom and taking advantage of people's gullibility - that we felt motivated to do something about it. EverNow doesn't pull its punches. It tells it like it is.
A little knowledge is dangerous, they say. Good advice - even more so! Especially, when it's pure BS. The EverNow formula is simple: we attack sacred cows and undermine our own confidence in things we take for granted. In so doing, we open up our eyes to the truth. Strangely enough, the advice is really compelling and actually better for you than the supposedly "sincere" stuff.
First and foremost, this is satire. The EverNow advice is ambivalent: convincingly accurate and spectacularly bad. Nevertheless, there is a haunting truth to it.
- Do you want to live forever?
