SEAM is building a platform for multiple storytellers to come together and create original stories. We call this process a Story JAM.
If you've already heard of "Game Jams", then you'll understand the principle. In a nutshell, groups of people band together to challenge themselves to come up with a fully fleshed-out Story Pitch within a prescribed (but, short) period of time.
Unlike Game Jams, however, our Story Jam is a highly structured process and not a free-for-all. Because of this, we can control the quality, investment, and time required to produce a really good Pitch. Our process is based on our Story Design Framework (which you can read about in our bestselling book, "Story Design: A Handbook for Storytellers and Dream Merchants"). We have broken down the steps required in the Story Design process into a timed competition for 2 - 3 players.
Our framework starts with a Story Message and builds up (through several steps) to a Story Pitch. Here's an example of how the process works.
What's in it for me?
Writers and Artists/Illustrators can use our tools to work on their own projects. Within a member's Dashboard is a link to all the projects you've built yourself, plus those that you've collaborated on. By sharing your work with others, you can find partners to collaborate with who have complimentary skills.
Our tools will help you make your story projects better by design, not by accident.
We also help to combat writers' block by giving you creative challenges and helping you to find other creative people like yourself to collaborate with. Take a look at what our community's come up with lately.
If you have a Storyteller Subscription, you can keep your work private and only share it with trusted Jammers. Also, you can have your work reviewed by professionals in the film and television industry, if you wish.
Phase One - (completed April 2014)
We launched Flash Jams - quick, solo jam sessions to be completed in 15 mins or less.
Flash Jams include writing prompts and image prompts for writers and artists/illustrators.
Phase Two - (completed May 2014)
Project Jams are solo/group Jam sessions to create content for SEAM Projects.
Short Story Jams are solo Jams that require the writer to employ one of our existing Story Messages. This ensures that the stories adhere to a meaningful social message and is unique to our process.
Story Message Jams are group jams that create building blocks for other Jams - the idea being that a good Story Message can be re-used and deployed in multiple story narratives. Think of it as "lego" for storytelling.
Phase Three - (Completed June 2014)
Character Jams use our Story Design Framework's character tools to design realistic characters.
Synopsis Jam is being beta tested.
Phase Four - (ETA November 2014)
We plan to launch our Pitch Jam, which brings together all the previous elements: Story Message, Character and Synopsis.
We are building a software platform to support many concurrent Jams around the world and hope to launch this new site in the summer of this year. At the moment, we have entered a Private Beta stage and have held several Story Jams already. In fact, this website is running the private Beta and the results have, so far, been outstanding.
If you are interested in participating in our private Beta, please use the form below to register your interest.

Phase Five - (ETA October 2014)
We are working on a mass-collaboration tool for complex story design projects to include audio/visual development and project distribution.[/vc_column_text][vc_button2 title="Join SEAM Now" style="rounded" color="grey" size="lg" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.seam.tv%2Fjoin%2F||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
